Immediately following the 2016 SPER Annual Meeting is the 4th Epidemiology Congress of the Americas. SPER joins the American College of Epidemiology (ACE), the American Public Health Association (APHA), the International Epidemiology Association (IEA), and the Society for Epidemiologic Research (SER) as a sponsor of this unique event. The theme for the Congress, which brings together a diverse group of epidemiologists and happens only once every five years, is Making a Difference Across Populations.
SPER is sponsoring a session at the Congress, chaired by Martha Werler and Samantha Parker. Abigal Fraser (University of Bristol) and Cesar Victoria (Federal University of Pelotas) will be presenting in the session entitled, “A Critical Period? Fetal Exposures and Adult Health”. For more information, click here.
Come and visit your fellow SPER members during the Congress at the SPER booth. Members of the Executive Committee will be available to answer questions about SPER.

Suzan Carmichael, President
We hope you can join us in Miami for our upcoming 29th Annual Meeting on June 20th and 21st. Of course it will be intellectually interesting, but with a backdrop of Miami culture and Florida wildlife, you could also make it an adventure…
We have been hard at work putting all the details together for the meeting, which truly takes a village. You can get more information about the meeting in this newsletter and on our web-site, but here are some highlights.
I also want to say thank you to many people: our Executive Committee for their steadfast commitment to keeping things running smoothly, Sue Bevan for graciously and seamlessly handling so many of our administrative tasks, everyone who submitted or co-authored or reviewed an abstract, everyone who ran for Office, everyone who submitted an application or sponsored someone for one of our Awards, and our Student Representative, Cassie Gibbs Pickens, who is keeping us ‘present’ on social media & organized the Advanced Methods Workshop. This is our village!
See you in Miami! -Suzan
